It's about that time of the year to witness and photograph the Roseate Spoonbills in all their glory out at Alafia Banks. They are simply stunning when they are in their breeding colors. If you're down this way, consider a boat trip out with Capt. James Shadle on the Hooptie Deux. He knows when and where the action is.

He sure does, Marina! I am hoping to go out with Shadle in the next couple of weeks, he's just the best!
What a gorgeous capture you have here. The detail, IQ, sharpness, shimmer, and pose are just perfect, Marina. Love how the tail matches the right wing.

Beautiful girl. I hope to hit the water with him myself real soon. I'd be super happy to bring this one home. Great color, detail and eye contact.

The light looked bright, very well done on the exposure. Colors are great, sharp all over, and that eye really stands out.

Love the under wing detail and the direct eye contact. Nice warm colors, background is a nice bonus to show off the natural habitat. I hope to be moved back down to Tampa area this fall.

A very nice capture with excellent detail and a sense of movement. I might have left a bit more room to the left of the bird but a very minor nit!

    Nice work Marina!!

Terrific shot Marina! Outstanding detail and wing stretch. I might do a slight CCW rotation. Outstanding image!

Hi Marina, great incoming pose, and I like the sharpness and DOF. You have brought out the colour very well, great eye, and the spoonie pops nicely from the BG. I wouldnt have minded a touch more spce right, and a little more below to land into, just a touch more.

Thank you everybody for your positive feedback. I am actually a little surprised. Although I loved the light, pose and colors on this spoonie, I was unhappy with the BG and esp the water. I guess I have become too critical of my own pictures, and I have a tough time ignoring a less-than-perfect BG and ugly water. This photo was actually taken 2 years ago and I had never even processed it until this week. At least I had the good sense not to delete it. Thank you again everyone for giving me a good shake back to reality.
