Some rough surf in Carlsbad, CA yesterday morning. Liked the staggered pattern of the waves. Crop, ACR, CS5, converted to BW with Silver Effects, added blue cooling filter.

This really gives me the feel of a nasty, cold day. I love the crop you've chosen. I don't think I would change a thing.
Brendan,
Excellent visualization and composition. I really like this. I would only suggest increasing the contrast some as it appears flat.
Thanks Dave & Robert, much appreciated. Here's a repost with some contrast added.
Hey Brendan,
I kind of prefer the misty mood of the OP. I do think I would prefer this as even more pano.....without the waves on the LR. Just a thought.
Thanks Roman. When I converted this image to B&W, the spray coming of the waves reminded me a little bit of geysers or volcanos. Decided to take that idea further over at OOTB, and used your pano crop suggestion. Here's the link: http://www.birdphotographers.net/for...nd-of-the-Lost
Hey Brendan,
I like the comp better in the OOTB post.....and while I like the diffrent otherwordly take on color.....I prefer the mood in the OP.
Hi Brendan, another vote for the OP here! A little added USM sharpness make the image a little more "crispy". I was about to suggest to isolate a few waves from the image to make a stronger composition when I saw your pano crop in OOTB, which was kind of what I had in mind. Isolating only a few waves may work equally well. Nice work!
Sorry for only getting to this one now Brendon. The thumbnail is deceiving as it didn't draw my eye, but I like this too for all the reasons mentioned. The repost with more contrast is better. Have you tried doing it in B&W?
Great vision and execution here . The repost with contrast rocks :) I will say that the mood created here is a very true reflection of being in this environment .........
Thanks, Andrew & Morkel
