Yellow-spotted Honeyeater (Meliphaga notata) Daintree Queensland Canon EOS 7D Lens 400mm L USM ISO400 F6.3 1/500 available light 27 June 2011 9.23am
Yellow-Spotted Honeyeater and Graceful Honeyeater present identification problems, however in this case Lloyd Nielson from Mount Molloy who is familiar with these two honeyeaters agreed on the ID.
Both species occur from Cape York down to Paluma in Queensland and together with the slightly larger Lewin's Honeyeater can be difficult to sort in the field

A very beautiful image; stunning bird Rod.removing the stem lhs to breast will improve IMO
I was thinking of visiting that area sometime this year. Any idea what the gorgeous plant is?
Neat looking bird and I like that plant it is on. Since nothing else is wet I assume that the yellow flower is producing the liquid and the bird is enjoying it.
A bit busy bg, but sometimes we take what we can get. I have never seen one of these, so I cannot comment too much about it. I do like the details of the breast feathers. When you can see the weaved look, you know you were close. Nicely done.
