Whilst on a night time drive and on the trail of a mating leopard pair, we came upon this rarely seen Pel's Fishing Owl
perched high on the bank of the Luangwa River, these guys are a privilege to see and this hand held spot lit image from our vehicle (NO flash)
seemed appropriate to it's nocturnal habitat.
Pel's aren't that rare, just rarely sighted, but the Sth Luangwa is an area where you stand a better chance to see them than just about anywhere else in Africa.
D3s 500VR 1/15s f/4 ISO1600 -2 EV comp, a steady hand and large bean bag. Sth Luangwa NP- Zambia Nov 2011
C & C most welcome
Cheers
Marc
