    Default Great Blue gets Lunch

    Sort of find this shot amusing because it tells a story, or at least part of a story. After flying a short ways with this rather largish carp, the GBH actually swallowed this thing whole! It then walked over to the pond and took a number of sips, shaking its head fairly vigorously, I guess trying to get that fish down its gullet!

    Canon 1D Mk IV, 500 f4 + 1.4x TC, ISO 1250, 1/1250s, f6.3, 0ev.

    Really nice shot. I have never seen a GBH fly with it's meal - and what a meal this is.

    Very cliched line - but impressive catch by both the heron and you :)
    The mallard certainly looks impressed by the heron.
