    Hi Folks,
It's been a while since my last post. Here is a Snowy Owl gliding past me as I enjoyed yet another great day at Boundary Bay near Ladner British Columbia. The Snowy's were thick on the weekend with in excess of 25 birds again. Also some Short-Eared Owls and lots of Harriers hunting, pictures of which I may post at a later time. The Snowy's were quite friendly at times flying and landing quite close to us. This is only one shot of many so it is kind of hard to decide which one to post.

Stats: Canon 1D Mark4, 500mm lens with 1.4X extender, taken about 100 feet away with 1/1600 at F/7.1, ISO 640.

    Take care and good light,

    Steve

You can't go wrong with this one, love the eye wide open and wing position with nice background.

Not a big fan of the wing position, but the photo is sharp, the bird looks great as usual, and a nice BG.
    Wish I was there.

Excellent image Steve! I like sharpness, details and BG. I would like to see more room all around.

    Hi Jim,
Thanks for the comment. Not much I can do with it as it is a full frame shot. Had to add canvas as it was to the front as I caught him just about as he was going out of the frame.

This is a beautiful capture! Lovely lighting and details. I am so envious of all those owls! What a fabulous experience.

    Hi Christian,
Thanks for the nice comment. The distance according to the EXIF was 32 meters so a little over 100 feet away.

    Hi Nancy,
Thank you for you comments. Yes, it was a great day and probably one that won't be repeated for a few years. At one point I had a Snowy fly so close I could have reached out and touched the tip of its wing.
So many Snowy's and all within about a half a mile of tide flat area. Also tons of other raptors too that were nearly as tame. I would imagine that they will not be there in another month or so as the spring is coming and it will be soon time to mate.

    Take care and good light,

    Steve
