The bird and background are terrific. And those yellow eyes looking at us...amazing. Just personal taste here: I'm not crazy about the perch and I am distracted by the OOF stalks at the image's bottom, but that's just being really fussy. And with an image of this quality, I feel like I can be fussy! The IQ, the exposure, the light, the color, the bird's FEET! All exquisite! I'd love to know where you shot this bird...

Very nice capture. Love the composition, and all the environmental factors. I see a lot of details in all his different feathers from head to big fat toes!

Thanks Jack, the owls were in Ocean Shores area in WA. I heard they have left that area already...

Thanks Marina, I forgot to include the larger version for a better view of details! They do have big fat toes!

Lovely photo. Even some of the major news programs covered the unprecedented appearance of these owls this winter.

Great image - glad you were able to get those furry feet so visible. Nothing I'd change about this one.

Best perch pose yet, for me.
By the way, for BPN folks, they have not left.
i may go up this week, I spoke with a couple of birders who were there this past Saturday and counted Seventeen.
Sunny weather for a few days and all last weekend. If I had known they were still here.....
They were stunned at the amount.
I like the perch, looks like burned driftwood, common on the Pacific Northwest beaches and spits.
    Love the eyes.

Fantastic comp. I just love the habitat and the worn perch. The bit of sky color although subtle add so much. Superb!

Arash, I like the FG and BG here a lot. so many textures. comp, processing, details...spot on as usual. have never seen these birds...can this go a tad brighter? 1/3rd stop perhaps. for bright white birds, what do you keep your brightest whites at? they look in high 230s here.

Thanks Kaustubh, brightness looks good to me, there are some pixels on the forehead sitting at 240's. I try not to exceed 245, a tad lower for birds with lots detail in the whites...

thx. I asked because I know some prefer bright whites on bright white birds to be in the high 240s.

    Excellent composition.
Owls are still there -- numbers decreased after severe wind/snow storm several weeks ago but they reappeared shortly afterwards. Numbers reported are 12 or less. Boundary Bay has more.
