I love the stick, pose, dark reflection which makes the head pop, and the wing trailing in the water. I would prefer the cormorant a small bit higher in the frame.

I like it as is. I love the wing touching the water. Maybe consider another round of sharpening on the head, it does not appear quite so sharp as the wings or the twig.

Tom, you caught the bird at a nice angle w.r.t yourself. lots of details. stick in bill always adds that extra something. can the whole image go a bit brighter? a little higher in the frame will work....just crop a bit from the top...no need to add anything below. that will also make your shooting angle appear more eye-level.

All points taken on board. I guess it could go a bit brighter - I do find it hard to replicate the brightness of some other images posted here on the forum - I'm not sure if it our harsh lighting conditions down here or my photoshop skills. This image was taken a around 7.10 am.

Real nice shot. Love the wing touching the water, exposed very well, andI like the branch in its beak.
    Well done.
