This from last Sunday at the Gatorland rookery. Uncropped, but added 5% additional canvas to top and right to give more space for the right-facing bird to look into. PP foliage taken from another shot of same scene. Nice morning lighting and a very nice background of cabbage palms (plus a very photogenic subject is full breeding colors).

Two killer breeding plumage birds with lots of d-o-f. I like the palms just above the bird's heads. The birds are a bit squeezed into the frame most likely to minimize distracting elements. The two extra birds were bad luck but par for the course in crowded rookeries/

Artie: Yes I did get in with the reinstated photopass program (senior discount, don't you know). The zipline is operational but is a non-issue as far as I could tell. It is not over the rookery. The birds seem unfazed by it all.
Including me there were only 3 photographers Sunday morning. I'm sure that will pick up as the season progresses.
