Spoonbill landing, from Alafia Bank several weeks ago with James and the refurbished Hooptie Deux. Light had almost gone when these guys started flying in, so out of desperation I cranked up the ISO, and was pleasantly surprised with this one so I thought I'd use it for my 3000th post. Reminds me of a dog with his head out of the car window. C&C appreciated.

Excellent image Bill! I like the incoming pose, wing position, exposure, colourful bird and sharpness. I would consider taking a little off the bottom.

Love the wing spread and how the bird fills the frame. I might also agree with the slight crop off the bottom. Otherwise, a very impactful image with great detail.

Terrific pose, Bill! Love the wings stretched all the way back, the open mouth and the raised tail. Very well done.

Hi Bill, Love the title and the great landing pose for me I think the image could use just a touch more work in PS to bring it to its full potential as the image looks a little dull and washed out. So I pulled it in to PS and did the following, adjusted both the black and white points with a curve adjustment which brighten the image and added some punch to the colors I then added a small S curve to increase contrast and added a few points of black to the reds with selective color and to finish it off selectively sharpen the head.

Don, your tweaking did indeed give it some added pop. Thanks for taking the time. I'll go back to the master file and work on the curves a bit.

Don's repost rocks. Love the handing feet. A nice crop from the bottom and a bit more head turn towards us would work for me.

I like the repost but like your original just because it is soft (not focally) and sweet, with subtle tones...either way it's a very good image...and good lord, what a bird! One day I'll see an r.spoonbill, one day...oh! and congrats on an iso2500 pic that looks as good as this?!

lovely dynamic pose and nice soft light, good handling of high ISO as well. I prefer Don's repost but your original colors, the repost reds are too saturated compared to real world spoonbill.
