    Default Red-tailed Hawk

I have very few raptor images and none that I had processed.
For this theme, I had to go dumpster diving to find some I could process.

Was hesitant to post this, especially because of the boring bg, but I hope the pose saves the image.

    Canon 1D4, 300 f2.8, 2x II
    1/2000, f6.3, iso 640.

    All feedback appreciated.
    Thanks!

man, this is excellent! love the wing span, dynamic pose and dorsal details you nailed it! for more impact I'd go 4:3 AR to show the bird larger in the frame,

This is a top notch raptor photo!

Killer flight pose. Love the way he gave you the head turn and the upturned wings are nice too.

HA! Boring background?? Not at all a worry when the pose is this dynamic and the bq and sharpness so excellent.

Hey Sid, now you are just showing off . Superb banking angle which shows off the dorsal view nicely. Tack sharp, and I like the varied detail and colours, and the open beak a bonus. We all wish for a foliage BG, but there's nothing wrong with a full blue sky BG either. Very well captured.

Thanks for the kind comments everyone, I appreciate them.

Hey Gail, I took your advice and spent more time in that dumpster. Did end up finding some more I could salvage.
Dumpster diving would probably make a nice monthly theme? :)

Coming from the Hawk Man himself, this is very encouraging. Thank you!
    I will do a 4:3 comp tonight.

You are right...the pose with open bill and the dorsal view do make up for the BG...In my book, if you get full dorsal view then sky BG is fine :-) nice view of the red tail and perfect HA.
