I have been trying to get this kind of shot for 2 years. When the eagles fight it is always over the water at a far distance and the interaction lasts a second or two only. I have spent hours with my longest lens and 1.4 just waiting to get lucky. Well today I got 2 images! They are fighting over meat thrown out on the ice by a local farmer.

Congratulations Gail. This must be extra special since you had to brave such cold temps. The interaction is great between these two.

    Seriously?
    What a great shot!
Action, IQ, the whole package, A slight head turn from the adult and you would have had an award winning photo.
    Congratulations.

nice that you got both sharp and the interaction is great, wish we could see both eyes...not much you can do in situations like this you are either in the right place at the right time or not, it's all luck :D

Really nice capture Gail...This is excellent capture where you have both birds in focus it would have been great if the tail of bottom BE was not obstructed behind the wing...Great Work.

Congratulations on capturing this! I wish they were fighting over something else, but nothing you could do about that.

Hi Gail, big congrats on getting your dream shot. The IQ has held up well for a large crop. Both sharp and well exposed, and your choice of comp was the way to go.

-24deg C is very cold, so another well done braving that type of weather.

Forgive me, for this is not a critique. I'm writing just to say "Congratulations! You must feel great about this shot, and you should! It's terrific! Well earned! -24 for hours is no Swiss picnic, I know!"

Very cool, Gail. Excellent action captured and kudos to you on your determination and execution.
I'm certain you'll get more of these - perfect HAs and all - before the season is over.
