These mating bullfrogs put on an amazing display, unfortunately mostly hidden in the grass, perhaps they were shy

Love the colour here Ken, the DOF with glistening light falloff across his head and back is very effective, nicely done.

Good one Ken, I like this.

Great sharpness on the eyes really makes them jump off the screen.

That one on top looks like he is going to explode.

Nice one Ken! I can never find them in the open either....so they must be shy! Given the difficulty in these conditions.....you did very well!

V nice, I like everything about it, direction of light, sparkle in eye, sparkle on back, color, green plant all around, sharpness DOF, crop, composition. And the smile on the big fellow on top .

Thanks everybody for your kind comments, this was a first time sighting for me, and I am pleased that I got a few images. I have to say my wife's video is much better for "telling the story"

Ken - the eyes are great. Nice to see some of the smaller African wildlife. Good color and dof.

Dig the eyes, and the male does look like he's ready to deflate
Angle is quite low already - but any chance you could have gotten any lower here?

    Morkel,
Much as would have liked to get out the "powers that be" seem to think it is dangerous with Wild Dog in the area, I have no idea why as I have done it elsewhere

    Cool pic Ken,
These things are almost comical to look at. Quite the eating machine from what I've seen on the nature shows.

I have to comment on this. They were the highlight of my trip to Botswana the year before this. Excellent shot of them. Really good to get them with practically no grass in front of the faces (I got none with no grass, and I was able to get out of the vehicle, although not able to walk far for fear of stepping on one of them!)
