Nice one Chas. I like the slight diagonal of the lineup and the waves. Looks like a bunch of shoppers busting into a store for a Black Friday sale.

Lots of action here! and the clearness of these penguins is great. Love to see many wings? held up in the air.

I like this a lot! The composition with the birds at the bottom and the ocean at the top is lovely. Removing the clipped birds on the side will make this even stronger.

When possible in-camera I will always look for groups within groups where I am able to not cut off individuals. With larger groups I do not find this problematic and prefer to leave the image as taken. I am not a believer of the sterility in nature crowd. My style is evolving, I believe for the better.

    Best,

    Chas

A great picture. I love comp, diagonal lines and action. I totally agree with you that in this type of images does not matter that parts of bird is missing

Excellent work Charles, good detail , colour , impact it's got the lot. I agree not to remove any of the birds from the edges for the reasons you have stated. My only issue is with there being just a narrow strip of sky showing. I am sure you you wanted to include the horizon and sky to bring context and dimension to the drama but for me it distracts somewhat. I think you need more sky or none at all IMHO.

Really love this...full of feeling. I actually like the "clipped" birds as it lets me know there are more. The tipped over one in the front gives sense of crowd.

No worries! We have to agree to disagree on that...

Removing the beak on the left and the clipped birds on the right will not make this image "sterile" in any way but it will help my eyes to stop going to the sides where the clipped birds are and distract my attention and enjoyment from this otherwise beautiful image. The trend lead by the big competitions which don't allow cloning (without significantly changing the story of course) is not an evolution IMHO but sticking to old practice from the film era IMHO. We got the tools to create very powerful and aesthetic images - why shouldn't we use the technology in an appropriate way?

    Ofer,

Cutting the birds out will give the appearance there are less numbers of birds coming out of the water.
    To each his own.

I am not going to get into the remove this, and add that debate.
I prefer not to get into the same rhetoric over and over, as it leads nowhere.

    Best,

    Chas
