Took a break from purging files to take a quick go at this one. This coyote was swallowing the last bit of what was 10 minutes earlier, a loud, barking prairie dog. Amazing how fast he ate it and that he even caught it at all given the racket that the colony made when he showed up. Grasses were feathery to begin with, and a gentle breeze had them nicely blurred. 20D, 500/4 + 1.4xTCII, f6.3, 1/640s, ISO 400, -1/3 EC, HH from vehicle, cropped a bit all around, mostly left and top.

Nice capture Steve. I like the DOF and the coyote is sharp.

    Steve,

Fabulous BG on this, the Coyote is pretty good too

Great moment, always nice to see some action rather than a straightforward portrait.

Hi Steve, the slight breeze and some NR applied (I guess) has separated the subject well. Good position within frame and I like the soft tones and colouring on this one. Pose/HA also works well and IQ looks good.

Nice image and nice action caught here.
That is a short haired Coyote though! It looks like it has been groomed.

I like the pose it's striking while munching, and good use of DOF and "dead space" here to frame the image.
The colour palette is very pleasing.

    Dan, Morkel,
    Thanks for the comments.

    Dan,
This was a early August coyote in New Mexico, still a bit warm for a thick coat
