Default Exotics of Los Angeles- When the noisy crowd descends take advantage. Lens test

I live in West Los Angeles and was startled by strange loud noises outside. I saw them and recognized one of the wild parrot flocks which fly by and rarely descend. I ran into the house, grabbed my ID MK IV and my new 70-300 L IS lens and ran back outside. Next door there were a lot of Red Crowned Parrots feasting on my neighbor's tree. I stood , handholding with the described equipment below and took many images with terrible light most of the time. The birds were mostly inside the leaves and not many with sunshine on them, but I had some success. This morning, it has been quiet.
In the rush, I did not have time to put on the polarizer, so I take credit for some hot reflective spots. I will deal with them later. It did print tack sharp at 20x24 with about a 40% crop. I am very happy with this lens and will probably replace three others making for a smaller inventory and losing the 400mm range, but the crop tell the tale, it works. Testing the lens at the max really proves it works. So far, I am very satisfied with it. While the print at 20x24 shows tack sharp detail around the eyes, I do not think this web image does justice to the photo.

    Steve:

Nice of them to drop by and spur you into action to test your new lens!

I agree about the quality of the light. Like the feeding activity.

I might consider removing the stick behind the right birds head.

Look forward to more with your new lens.

    Cheers
