    Default Standing Coot

Still trying to get a shot of a Coot which I'm pleased this. I managed this shot of a Coot out of water. I think it's my best yet, but I'm striving for perfection and I can't quite seem to hit it yet. Any advice on this image would be really appreciated. I think I may be letting myself down on the post processing side, but I'm not sure. These birds for some reason never seem to like sharpening. They just seem to look a bit weird after some USM. Settings were. I've resized it as previously advised to 1024 wide. Great if you could glance your more experienced eye over it. Thanks.

I think you did very well on this one Simon. Techs on the bird look really good and it has a nice head turn. My only crits are the grass substrate (seems man made or not natural to some degree) and the unfortunate line of the dark background through the head of the bird.
