I cannot remember who I promised a search for Sable too, but here it is. We actually found a large herd of around 20 in the mopane woodlands on a dull and rainy afternoon, a marvelous sighting but plenty of "pesky twigs".

You can just see the light rain, which certainly solved the traditional "blown whites" problem

Taken in Kwando concession, Northern Botswana, 29th December 2011.

They certainly are a majestic antelope Ken, nice portrait here, due to their massive horns composition is always difficult,
do you have a little more room above?

Looks like the place to go if you want to see Sable! Very nice portrait with good detail and exp. The mouth full of grass adds interest. Nicely done and TFS!

Ken - well done. Nice detail and exp looks good. The grass adds to the image. Also like the tiny fold at the tip of the ear.

Thanks everbody, always nice to find something you would like to see

    Marc,

No more room at top I am afraid

    Dumay,

To be quite honest this is only the third time we have seen Sable in Kwando, but then they are not exactly easy to find anywhere. It is just good luck.

Hi Ken, nice portrait of this elusive antelope, not used to getting that close to them. Like the grass in the mouth and detail in the curved horns.

An antelope that keeps eluding me, as I've said before...
Lovely portrait - the raindrops add as does the soft light.
I also would have liked a tad more space on top...
