    Default Running owl

The owl does not like to leave his favorite spot. I noticed that when it leaves, within few minutes, it sprints towards that spot. So I positioned myself to capture that. There was cloud cover and I didn't want to go over iso 800. Hence, compromised a bit on DOF and SS.

40D. 400f5.6L at f/6.3. iso 800. 1/2000s. manual exposure. captured as vertical in camera. almost full frame. The picture is level. Ground is sloping. On my right is the road and the ground slopes downwards towards the fields.

    All comments welcome.

Kaustubh, you really make that 40D shine. This is an absolutely great shot with both feet off the ground and sharp eyes and face. These owls always look so serious. Fine bg.

love the low angle and the quirky pose here KD
the owl seems level enough so the sloping ground doesn't mess with MY eyes
    soft light worked a treat

Excellent image Kaustubh! I am enjoying your BO series. I like the timing, low angle, eyes and intent feel the owl conveys.

An absolute winner, Kaustubh. He looks like a grumpy fellow charging towards you with his arms behind his back :)
Composition too is perfect, as usual.
Is he wintering there? If he's still there I'd be so tempted to make a day trip :)

Wonderful! Humorous...I somehow think that this image would appeal to kids (big ones too ) Good observation of his behavior worked well for you. And that low angle, killer.

Hi Kaus, well done on capturing this vertical - its not easy, I know. Well timed in this to have both feet off the ground, and love the eye contact. Cool BG too.
