Taken on Wagtail Way on Ash Island looking for a visiting Yellow Wagtail migrant...still looking but great that others are having success. These Sharpies were drinking from rainwater puddles. My gut reaction was that it was perhaps a part of courtship behaviour but others have suggested territorials squabbles. So anyone like to comment on the behavioural aspects of this image?? Apparently this species visit North American west coast.
Sharpe-tailed Sandpipers are one of our summer visitors from Artcic Siberia and are found throughout Australia from August through to March with large concentrations of observation in south eastern Australia.

    Hi Rod,
Great interaction you got here. I say it is courtship display as he is trying to impress and she is busy ignoring him!! I like the underwing feather detail and the light. I would tone down the white area above the male,

I don't know what the behaviour is but this is great shot. Both birds a very sharp and well exposed. I am wishing that the bright area above the left bird was like the rest of the bg. Good catch.

Hi Rod, great to have a pair in the frame, and even greater to capture courting behaviour. Well exposed, and both in focus and sharp. Your low angle works well too.
