Default Shoveler drake in flight 2

    Attached Images Attached Images

    Does the background work?
The white blobs seen in the bg are other shovelers enjoying the evening light.

    Feedback appreciated.
    Thanks.

Works for me. You got him in a clean spot between the "blobs" with some great light and a nice pose. Super clean BGs are necessary with every shot, your BG elements of birds and water provide a nice sense of habitat.

Beautiful IF capture of this Shoveler, Sidharth! Like the wing details, nice rich browns, and love the bright yellow eye. Well done!

Excellent wing position and placement of bird in the frame. IQ is excellent. I do find the dots a bit distracting,

Great flight position, comp, exposure, details. Very nicely captured, but I agree that the brightest of the BG spots are a little bit of a distraction.

Hi Sid, firstly, you nailed the flight posture capturing the downstroke of the wings. Secondly, you have nailed the sharpness, and I do like the detail and colours on the shoveler. Love that yellow eye. Im all for a mottled BG as captured, but in all honesty, if this were mine, I would blend in the spots. Having said that, the shoveler still pops so well, as it is separated nicely from the BG.

I tried my hand at blending in the spots, but didn't do too well. I tried a few methods with varying results.
In this repost, I used quick mask to paint those spots, created a layer out of the resulting selection in a linear blend mode with an opacity of ~18 and also reduced the brightness on that layer a bit.
    Other ideas are welcome. Thanks!
