I'm just back from a fantastic Glenn Bartley photo trip to Ecuador (feel free to PM me about the trip if you want info). This entertaining species was common in the Tandayapa area, a few bumpy hours northwest of Quito. For a northern guy, the hummingbird species diversity and abundance there was an eye-opener. Sometimes there were literally hundreds of hummers visible at any given point in time around the four or five feeders. The biggest challenge was to find one to focus on and maintain concentration. This shot was made at a multi-flash setup engineered by Glenn.
I have quite a few similar shots and chose to process this one first. I'm not sure which is best - one with the beak into the flower or one just as the bird approaches the flower. Thoughts? After a month of no Photoshopping I feel quite rusty and am not sure I have done this one justice. All C&C welcome and appreciated.
Multi-flash setup. Canon Mark IV, 500mm f/4L, ISO:400, f/8@1/250, Manual, One Shot AF, evaluative metering, Gitzo 3530LS, leveling head, Jobu HD2 gimbal
