Fresh off the press, as this was taken this morning in the Pilanesberg nature reserve. No set up, totally in the wild. This is a Southern Masked Weaver busy with his nest. I needed a spotter to tell me each time he was on his way, but didnt have one, so had to judge everything myself. I used one of the top focussing points so I had space below for him to fly into, as he always approached from the bottom. When I saw him approaching, I focussed on the nest and just fired away and captured a couple of images per arrival. I also did this shooting vertical. I have some of him leaving the nest too. Ive learnt from this to stop down to create more DOF, so as to get better IQ on the weaver. My next visit.
