Super shot, excellent focus and fine detail. I like the surroundings and the subtle colours. I would consider cropping some of the featureless water at the base.

I like the pose, sharpness, colours and eye contact. I would clone out the darks spots just above the water line. Nice image Josh!

Wonderful capture, Josh. I love those colors, the layered background, the pose, the soft light. Great job!!

Very nice low angle. I like the feeling of deepness created by the OOF FG. I would have liked a bit more of a better head/body angle. I might also consider cloning the above green strip to soften the overall look. I like the BG colors too. Very well done!

Well done with a great low angle. Like the vertical presentation very much and the layers in the BG make this one different. I would take up to your signature off of the bottom. If you have any to add on the left, I would do that. Well done.

Hi Josh, good DOF, and I do like the attentive stare. The light looks nice and soft, and the Godwit is nice and sharp. The layered BG works well, and another vote for taking at least half off the water at the bottom.

Wanted to add one more thought. There are three spots down near the water/sand line which I would remove if it were mine. They could be dust spots.

Josh, terrific shot. colors of the florida sand and water really help these images. excellent pose and exposure. I like the low angle....but I am thinking a slightly higher angle might have been better to eliminate the dark band at the top.

    Josh:

Great pose, soft bands of blue and tan. My one concern was the dark green band across the top, and Kaustubh addressed possibly shooting from a slightly higher angle to eliminate that.

After the fact, I would consider cropping from the top to eliminate the band and then adding back in tan canvas, if you are comfortable making such a dramatic change in the image.

I do agree with others about cropping up from the bottom as well.

    Cheers

I would like to see this without the dark band at the top but otherwise a terrific shot of this handsome bird!

Thanks for the comments/critques everyone. I should have noted that this guy was only around briefly, just long enough for me to fire off some shots. I was kneeled down in six inches of water so my mobility was somewhat limited. I agree with cropping some of the water at the bottom. I thought the green added some interest and variations to the image. Regardless, I appreciate the feedback from everyone!

Love the soft colors and the great bg. I have never seen the neck so stretched. I agree with crop suggestions.

A truly beautiful image, Josh. It makes me wonder how it would look without the green top layer. To me it would be a much cleaner look.
