This one startled me as it flew by yesterday morning - I didn't realize there were osprey at Oka Ponds...

Tried Artie's Color Efex 4/Detail Extractor - pretty cool

cropped in LR, sky desaturated a bit, white point set and sharpening in cs5 (its eyelid is halfway across its eye but decided not to try to tweak it) I wonder if it is a juvenile with its duller colors and brown eye?

    Nice pose with the fish.
It looks like a large crop?
The details are there but there is a bit of noise.
Cool photo though, the head is usually eaten pretty quickly, it must have just caught it.

hey Dan, yes you are right - the IQ isn't good here. the noise in the wings (and maybe the head?) is not visible in LR, so i must have really emphasized it in PP and didn't notice. boy do I need to get better at processing these things!

Still was a lovely experience - hope i can do a better job on the other image! And hopefully i'm learning more on the photo capture side too.

    Thanks Dan!

Very nice shot. I really like the light, exposed well, and the fish is a big bonus. Nits already mentioned, but all in all its still a great shot.
    Well done.

what a catch! Pat, excellent composition. loved the open mouth of the fish and the eye. details in the fish take it one step further. well done.
