Thought this would be a good capture to bring a smile to everyone's face. It sure brings one to mine every time I look at it. This is a Great Egret chick which is probably a few days old. Not easy shooting b/c there were so many distractions.

    Hi Marina,

I’m enjoying this chick. I like the diagonal of the neck and how the background liens seem to lead to the face. Is the focus on the nose rather than the eye? The soft colors and moderate contrast are very pleasing.

Made me smile! Wish for more DOF. Higher ISO for smaller aperture and shorter focal length with some cropping could have helped in here.

Hi Marina, crazy hairdo and love the eye contact. I like the inquisitive pose with the curved neck. Yep, more DOF would have been great here.

Truly a face only a mother could love. I hate to say the same thing everyone else has said but I agree that more DOF would have been great. I also wish that all " the hairdo" was included in the composition. Do you have more room on top? Still, a really good natural history shot and incredible that you could get so close,
