    Stuart:

A beautiful preening pose with excellent eye contact, head pretty much parallel to sensor, bird in peak breeding colors.

Slightly lower shooting angle if possible would have thrown the BG a bit more out of focus. I might try to smooth out faint reflection at the very bottom of the frame.

Interesting subject placement. I might try a small crop from top and right. For vertical shots with the reflection, I don't personally mind having the bird fairly centered from left to right, but personal taste there.

The darker ripples that stop suddenly under the birds tail do catch my eye.

    Cheers

Awesome preening capture you have here, Stuart. I think it needs a slight rotation and agree with Randy on a crop, just not sure which one so maybe experiment a little to find what works best. I personally like the reflections you have behind the Spoonie's head. They are very artsy.

Very nice colors and detail you have here. The reflection is a big plus in the frame and worked fine. Perhaps you could clean up the little things in the water but besides that a great picture .TFS.
