    Default Snowy Owl Portrait

    Got this little cutie at Ocean Shores a couple weeks ago. I went up on a whim and hoped for some good light. I was rewarded with 40 min of sun + one very cooperative owl! Too bad the sun came out a little too high and cast shadows over the eyes.

    Gear = Canon 7D + 500mm f/4
    Exposure Time = 1/2000 second
    Lens F-Stop = ƒ/7.1
    Exposure Program = shutter priority
    ISO Speed Ratings = 200
    Exposure Bias (EV) = -1/3
    Metering Mode = pattern / multi-segment
    Flash = Flash did not fire
    Focal Length = 700 mm

    Freakin awesome Snowy portrait, Conrad! Beautiful IQ & detail, great BG, love those eyes, I think the shadow adds some nice depth. Well done!

    Holy excrement! This is an amazing portrait. As intimate as it gets. Stunning light, IQ and everything else. Just love it.

    Very nice. I like the comp. The layered BG is lovely. Good exposure on the whites,

    Very nice, Conrad.
    Nice BG, and the shadows don't bother me, it just looks sleepy!
    Nice work getting this.

    Nice close-up portrait, and I dig the BG. This guy even has little horns à-la Horned Lark! Nice details and exposure...
