    Default Collared Aracari

    Hi

Some lovely Aracaris pics posted recently - well done

One of my favorite birds; I have been lucky to get very close indeed.
This taken on Finca Loco Natural, Playa Negra, Costa Rica (Caribbean)
I was able by staying put and still to take a large number of shots while they were engaged in eating fruit.
Moving in flocks they literally attack the tree.

you can see the fruit juice at the end of the bill (with fruit shots in processing)

    1/80 tripod, f 7.1 ISO 800 Ev 0 Av mode, 7D and 100-400

hope you like; what a beak!

Nice image Richard! It is something when a flock comes in. What do you think about this crop?

    Cool bird and excellent detail!

Pano crop works really well but I would leave the space to the left and right of the bird and maybe even add a bit more room on the right if you have it.
I like "busy-ish" BG here as it gives a sense of place without being overly distracting but you might try using Curves selectively on the BG to bring down the brighter tones a little.

    Good suggestions,

Used curves to tone down BG
recropped, added small amount of canvas to right, blended in

    glad you like the details/bird

Rich you latest post looks superb,I think you have improved the background, it may be possible to lightly brush over the colouless areas but having said that it could end up looking just messy. I like it as is - very nice indeed.

Hi Richard, impressive looking bird, or should I say beak. Well exposed on the blacks, and your repost wins hands down.

Original and last repost are good to me. Feather details are nice as well. These guys don't forgive when there's food around and nothing in the rain forest.
