Came across this White-throated Treecreeper while walking though sub-alpine eucalypt woodland near Canberra, Australia.

Canon 7D, Ef500 f/4 + 1.4x, handheld, ISO 400, 1/250, f/6.3, vertical crop from horizontal image. Digitally removed a curved twig at lower left.

Love the diagonal perch. Beautifully exposed and good IQ. I love the little orange spot on the cheek.

Nice bird and BG ... exposure and detail look good!

Head seems to be angled away a bit ... getting it closer to parallel would work better for this pose IMO.

I think you have a good shot there Simon. I sense you are just about sharp, handholding that lot at 1/250 sec I think is borderline even with image stabilisation, I would possibly consider a tad more sharpening on the head.

One **** of a shot Simon. Good to get this fellow out in the open. Well wished you had more head turn but then you never get every thing in the wild all the time!!!! But a very good shot for hand held.

Very nice wood creeper. If yours are like the ones we have here it is diffacult to get them as they are always moving and never on a small branch out in the open. I do not mind the head position, I think we need to expand our limits for poses. Bird is sharp, good exposure and background. Good find.
