    Another Whimbrel and crab photo.
A few minutes later, another direction and another crab.
I knew the BG was going to be busy in the tide pools so I used f3.5
to try and get separation. I got very close, this is 90% full frame.
    Comments always appreciated.

Nice sharp and well exposed image Dan. It’s always special when your subject is having a meal. If it were possible to be a little lower the little crab would be in the nice OOF background and stand out more. Overall this is a nice image.

Thanks, Morris, Daniel Cadieux had the same suggestion to get lower on the first one i posted.
While I appreciate the suggestion, walking around and photographing in rocky tide pools is not
made for lying down. I got as low as I could, perched on rocky areas between pools filled with urchins,
starfish and other very delicate life forms. I felt like I was intruding as is.
For some reason, the Whimbrel let me get extremely close (10 feet), so I felt very lucky.

I like this one compared to the other one you posted Dan. Very nice habitat image with bonus crab.

I like this one better as well. More room all around and seems a tad sharper. Still like the vegetation on the FG and am glad you "tread lightly" to respect the environment. Those lichens are ecologically fragile (in NS anyway,)

I am really looking and looking at this image what amazing colours and light, i really like it. I would suggest it is a little tight in the frame, I would like to see a tad more space around the subject, this I suspect is just a personal preference so by all means disagree!!

Hi Dan, good low perspective, and I like the walking pose with the raised foot. Good detail on the whimbrel, and his catch a bonus. Comp wise, I would add to the right, and take a bit off the top.
