Hi Gus- Personally I prefer hummers with blurred wings like yours. It looks more like how you would see it in real life. I like the position of the bird in the frame and that it's looking up into the negative space. You could have used some more light on front of the bird- some fill light in Adobe Camera Raw or Shadows and Highlights would work. I see some motion blur in the eye.

Nice photo Gus. The head is sharp and the blurred wings underscore this little bird's dynamic energy. But, it appears the tail must have been moving a bit since it is slightly blurred. Did you notice if the bird was flicking its tail while hovering? I've seen hummers do this. You may have needed a faster shutter speed and pushed the ISO higher to accomodate this. Thanks for sharing. Like most people, I love hummingbirds. In PA we have to wait till May for the ruby-throats to return, but we see them at our feeders every summer.

Nice hummer, Gus. I like the blur of the wings as well. Nice flight position on this one too.

    Gus,
I'm with John on this. I also prefer to see a little blur on hummers. The multiple flash hummer-freezes are nice, but they look very artificial to me. You have a nice amount of blur here to relate motion (and boy do they move!). I think a little more turn toward you would have made this one a bit stronger. A bit of fill flash might have also helped with the somewhat dark image.

Hi Gus, light angle is not your friend in this one. Most of the bird is in shadow which really hurts the gorget area in this case. Fill flash was the right thing to do, but you needed more light from the flash.
