I receicived my Nikon FT1 adapter for my Nikon 1 V1. The weather here is not fit for man nor beast, so I put the camera on my 200-400 F/4 lens and mounted it on a tripod to try it out. Because of the weather, I shot through window glass. I have never been able to achieve very sharp images through window glass with my D3S and I didn' expect any better with the Nikon 1. With the extremely small image size I was really not at all sure what I would get. The acompanying image of a co-operative Northern Cardinal was the result, so judge for yourselves and let me know what you think? I did absolutely no PP. The effective length of the lens becomes 1080 so I really needed the tripod. Thanks ahead of time for any of your thoughts. Nikon 1 V1

I think a bit of processing would help. Seems a bit soft and too centered. Good color. Very busy setting as well , but I think you were just trying to see what your results would be with the new equipment.
Nice pose and colors...love the crest on head...I think focus was on the perch as bird looks quite soft...also BG is bit busy but we really can not do much about it
Please keep trying these tests and try some without the window. I am very interested in seeing the results. This one is a little soft and I can't tell if it is the window or the camera/lens combination.

i'll give it a try not through the window and see what happens. It was a particularly windy day so the softness my also be caused by movement as the day was quite overcast and I couldn' t use much shuttter speed as you can see
