    Default Blue-billed Duck

First image taken in 2012. Just spent two days at a wetlands 4 hour drive from my home. Lots of ducks, 7 species, but they were very shy, often swimming/flying away to the other side of the large lake at the first sight of me. Looking into hides etc for next trip. Anyway one duck did not worry too much about me at all. Hope this year is a good one for all BPN photographers.

    1d Mk 4, 500mm +2x ext, 1/800 @ 8.0, ISO 640. 80% FF.

    Thanks Tom

Lovely image of this handsome looking Duck. I think the image could use some CW rotation and perhaps getting more detail from the darker parts of the bird.

    Tom:

Glad someone cooperated for you. He looks like a stretched out version of our ruddy duck.

Good head angle, exposure on duck, shooting angle.

On my monitor at work (which displays a bit bright), the water is so bright that it distracts a bit from the duck.

Could consider a version with the luminosity of the water toned down just a bit.

    Cheers

Real nice shot. I really like the calm water, great pose, and real nice light.
    Well done.
