    Default Snow Bunting squabble.

Finally, my first photo outing and new images of 2012!!! A flock of Snow Buntings have been offering nice opportunities, attracted to seeds place by the side of the road and near the road edge snow banks. Lots of little disagreements between them as they vie for small feeding territories while eating. I love the contact on the face that the airborn individual has on the grounded one. It can be difficult to anticipate, but after a while a pattern emerges with small clues as to when small outbursts may happen. Fun to observe and study!

Canon 7D + 100-400L @400mm, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/3200s., f/7.1, ISO 400 (metered off snow bank and histogram checked), cropped for composition at about 75% FF, a few seeds patched out along the bottom edge.

WOW!!! KILLER behaviour and action shot!! light, colours, exposure and composition look fantastic! If anything will sharpen the head of the bird on the left and define the catchlight a bit more as it gives an impression of softness as presented.

Fantastic action shot indeed, Daniel. What a way to start 2012!
Ofer took the words out of my mouth: +1 to taming the catchlight of the bird on the left.

Hi Dan, very well timed to capture the moment, and excellent exposure throughout. Good to see the flying snow too.

    Hu Daniel,
Great interaction captured. Excellent exposure of snow and whites. I find the head on the left bunting a bit soft, nothing that a bit of selective sharpening can't fix.
