This is a rather large crop around 20% of full frame, it is rare to get very close as they can be quite jittery. These Cranes are listed as vulnerable but seem to be making a comeback in Northern Botswana, found this one of three in Kwando concession, 24th December 2011

Considering the crop and being handheld, this image sure held up pretty well. Love seeing a new species. Glad they're on the comeback trail. Love your clean BG, EXP, the angle and the open bill. Appears a little cramped on the right to me.

What a cool bird, Ken. For 20% this looks very good!
Elegant portrait with a great bg, open bill, perfect exposure and nice light. Agree that it could use a bit more room on the right.

Hi Ken, I like the soft light, and you have captured excellent detail and colours. I would add a little more space on the right, and maybe selectively sharpen the head a touch more.

For such a heavy crop, this photo holds on to the quality unbelievably. You must have an awesome control of your hands.
Very nice capture. May be a little more space on the right.....!

The colors and parted Bill are all very nice making for a excellent portrait image. I would agree with some added room.
