    Default Loggerhead Shrike

    Captured in early evening light.

Sorry, failed to mention that I removed some troublesome twigs from around the perch, leaving a basic BOAS (bird on a stick).

Wow. Nice picture Kerry. I've never even seen one of these birds. Was this photo taken this winter, and in California?

Thanks Ronald! This one was captured at the end of last November at the Salton Sea.

    Kerry,

The vertical crop fits well with a regal pose - nice combination. I like the single frail looking perch. It adds to the picture and is a good example of how other elements can support the subject to provide balance in the frame. The bird is unique IMO anyway and the colors are beautiful. The image has good color, gesture and form.

    Kerry,

I like this BOAS a lot. the vertical frame works very well. The perch is not overpowering. Good exposure techs. This is one of those birds I've only seen at a distance.

Very nice shot. I love the eye.

I have seen one of these birds only once: in Palmdale early december. The bird would take off as soon as I got within 100ft. You must have stealth skills beyond my imagination :)

Hi Kerry. Lovely light and detail on this bird. The black, gray, and white feathers are complemented nicely by the blue sky. If this were mine, I might add a little more room on the right. A very nice shot.

My first and only time getting a photo of this species was in Florida.

Nice capture, Kerry! Love that bill! The HA is real good here! You can see how these guys can actually take small passerines!

Great loggerhead Kerry. The beak, markings and eye are well presented. I saw 3 of these guys yesterday in the area around the Golden Spike National Historic Site, Promontory Point , Utah. I have not seen that many in a long time. Got an evidence image of one of them.

Nice shot. I love the clean simplicity of the black and white bird against the even blue sky.
I just keep scrolling back up to look at it again. The one nit I have is the stick seems long
and flimsy, I want to crop a little off the bottom of the image, probably take off the darker
    base part of the stick.
