Jan-Feb - Gr8 time to checkout the brown pelicans in La Jolla. Was there last week. Very few photographers compared to previous years. Just learned to use Auto ISO mode - thanks to a tip from here.

Hi Murali: Thank you for posting. What a great subject. The pelicans in Florida don't have the same bright breeding colors as yours in CA. It looks as though you did a good job on your exposure, with good details and you did well with your vertical crop although I might take a little off of the top. I think you may well have done even better with these pelicans had you photographed them in less harsh light...in other words, earlier in the morning. Looking forward to more.
Love the color pallet on the subject. I agree about the harsh light .Great shot though.

nice pose, details and a good BG. it is somewhat oversharpened and too contrasty

Love the California brown pelican and La Jolla has got to be the best place to get them.
Fantastic breeding colors! I know the water there is a gorgeous blue, but if I were to process this image on my monitor, I'd reduce the saturation and the contrast a bit here.
You've got a nice pose. I'd move him further up in the frame if possible.
