    Small crop of ~ 15 % for composition
    The BG is water
    PP in LR3 and recovered some whites is CS5. Still learning to back off on overexposing with this camera compared to my 7D

    Excellent capture Gail. Nice feather details, HA,BG and sharpness. Love the fact that there are no shadows.

    This is a delight to view Gail. You did a super job of maintaining detail in both the whites and dark feathers. The background has just enough detail to make it interesting.

    Hi Gail, good placement in the frame, and I do like the head turn and eye contact. Sometimes having over-exposed does bring out the darker detail, as you have done here, and well done on the sharpness too. The eagle certainly pops from the BG. Well captured.

    PS Wierd, the thumbnail for this shows what looks like a great blue heron carrying nesting material, at least on my screen!

    very good wing position and the look back saves the flying away. very nice BG, sharp and good details. the whites were hot, I;m sure next time you will nail it
