I took this photo about a week ago of a family (I presume...) walking along a rocky breakwater/marina wall at sunset. The image I would describe as 'ho humm... nothing special' but what I did find interesting (and its just an observation of social behaviour) is the order in which this family was walking in. Leading the way is a young (alpha) male and he is the only one that is looking around (for imminent danger?) and is followed by a young woman that I would bet is the girlfriend or partner. At the back of the pack is an old male, from his position he can over see the whole family, and combined with the leading male they bracket the whole group from danger. The oldest female is in the center (ish) of the group surrounded by younger females. I presume she is the matriarch. Final point is that two of these females are apparently texting while walking over these quite large bolders, proving that females can indeed do two complex things simultaneously...Lets hope they get them both right
Now this could be a load of rubbish, but it kept me amused for a few minutes and its too hot outside to go and photograph something....
Excellent observations Don and a beautiful image! Too bad you didn't get the name of the family...I'd bet they'd have paid to get this family portrait.
Thanks guys... I had just spent 3/4 of an hour holding my 500mm in readyness for an Osprey to fly off its perch on top of the Entrance lights at the local marina. In that time the Osprey did not move, so as the sun was setting i switched to a 50D and wide angle already set up. Took 2 photos, looked up and the osprey had gone... Don't you hate that...! How do they know you are waiting..!! So I then noticed this family walking on the other side of the marina and took the shots with the 500 across the entrance. It was too far to get around to the other side so no chance of talking with them.
