    Default Aspen Grove

Aspen groves are one of my favorite places with those beautiful white trunks and quaking leaves. Many species of birds like to nest in aspen, in both cavities in the trunks and among the leaves.

First I used Topaz, Adjust 5, soft focus; then a very low opacity of fractalius and Nik Efex Pro, darken/lighten center. I erased the effects on the tree trunks. A final tiny tug on curves.

Lovely, lovely light, Nancy. The rustling of the leaves is one of my favorite sounds. There is a shimmer to the leaves that is very appealing/wonderfully captured and processed. This would make a great Fall print. Well done!

Nancy, I love the combination of filters you used and especially that you revealed the trunks. I think I'd tone down the middle trunk at the bottom just a little but I really love it just the way it is

Nancy, this is a strong composition...Cheryl makes a good point about the highlight in the lower portion of the image. Just playing with it...I tried cropping a bit from the top, to just below that sliver of the middle trunk...can't decide if it was truly any better, or just a different look! This is beautiful.

Nancy, I like everything about this one. The colors and the softness really appeal to me. I love these trees and their leaves. I too would love to see this printed LARGE!

Beautiful light and colors Nancy! I like everything about it including the soft look. I agree that it would be a fabulous print.

I went to northern NM years ago and got to see the golden aspens and they truly are magnificent. That was before digital cameras unfortunately. I made camcorder videos though.

Thank you everyone. I see what you mean, Cheryl & John, about that bit of bright lower trunk. I can either clone some leaves over it or crop it out.

Excellent. Congratulations on the win. Fabulous colors, shapes, patterns. Love that the color fills the frame.
