    Default Snowy Owl on Perch

    Attached Images Attached Images

Made a second trip to Ocean Shores with Don Nelson and had the pleasure to meet Doug Brown and Arash Hazeghi. Light a bit more challenging but some nice saturation possible with some muted colors. I am posting my favorite image, which I actually printed up fairly large on some nice matte paper. The matte finish worked well on this image, IMHO.

Canon 1D Mk IV, 500+ 1.4x TC. ISO 1250, 1/500, f/8 0 Ev. A bit of Brilliance up using Nik software and a slight darkening of the BG behind the bird. A bit of lightening and saturation of the eyes again using Nik. Originally taken in Landscape and cropped as a portrait.

MIchael, that is a beautiful image. I like the BG. I like the diagonal of the perch & how it leads the eye to the owl. TFS.

Wow!! What a wonderful shot. I really like the background and perch, excellent pose, and composed very well.
    Well done.

I think I commented on this same picture a few days ago. I love the BG and the perch on this one. You did a great job placing the owl in the frame. I only wish to see a little more of the other eye, or none at all.

Not sure what is going on but I now remember Marina's comment about the one eye. However, there is no record of me posting this Snowy image previously. I thought maybe the comment about the eye came from another forum (fredmiranda.com). I am also having trouble today doing "Reply" or "Reply with Quote" by clicking below on the responses to my post, and I have tried both Safari and Firefox. Only way I could get in a reply was to click on "Reply to Thread". I am having a bad day! :D

Because I am unable for some reason to reply to each of your kind posts individually, I want to thank each of you for taking the time to look in on my post and your comments!

Lovely setting and great mood..I will have to throw a spanner in the works and say the IQ is pretty poor the image lacks detail! Maybe a revisit in PP! TFS

    Micheal,
I think something has happened to this image in processing for the web. The IQ is not up to par. I think you had the same kind of issue with another snowy owl that you posted, The BG and pose are terrific Would love to see arepost with processing issues solved,
    Gail

Great look and a nice perch! This was the most handsome bird. I agree something went wrong with PP and the JPEG came out lacking in detail. Try to reprocess like the one you did before when you a chance!

Man, I am trying to Reply to Thread, or Reply to a message, or Reply with Quote and when I click on those locations all I get is a spinning thing ! Same with Safari and Firefox. I can do a Quick Reply and with the Advanced setting I realize I can repost!

Let's see if this version looks any better
