    Default First Try With DAP

I posted this a few days ago but it was lost in the database hiccup...so I'll give it another go. Shot at the Riverlands Migratory Sanctuary two weeks ago, just before dawn. 24mm, f/11@1/3 sec. RAW file processed in LR; applied NIK Tonal Contrast, Detail Extractor and a graduated color blend to punch the warmth; all on separate layers with varying degrees of opacity. Finished off with a very low opacity layer of Topaz Simplify and brought it into DAP and used the Realism filter. Saved it as a PSD file and went back into PS and tweaked the Realism opacity a bit as well. At that point I thought I better walk away before I got in too deep . Looking forward to your thoughts.

John, I was disappointed that I didn't see your OP as it disappeared before I got a chance to see it so I'm glad you reposted. (I had a similiar DAP image that I posted that disappeared also). I love your results, especially the colors and the dreamy quality of the filtering. Nice work! And as much as I like the rich blue sky I could also see this as a pano with the sky cropped out. I like it this way better though.

John, This is lovely! I'm glad you reposted it. The colors and the soft processing are terrific. I might try to cover the sliver of gray on the foreground edge even though I know it's natural I'm not crazy about it.You did very well with the DAP filtering, it is an easy filter to over do. I look forward to seeing more of your DAP processed images.

Cheryl and Denise, thank you for your comments...Denise, I have to agree about the gray sliver; I debated before posting, you just confirmed my initial thoughts. Cheryl, I've actually played with a pano as well!...just thought I'd see what the overall reactions were to the image. Here's a repost with the gray sliver cloned out.

Super processing! The picture says it all, much better than a 1000 words.

Wonderful light and moody scene you captured and composed, John. The dark silhouette of the trees contrast nicely, and like the complimentary warm & cool colors. Good job with the DAP to simplify and give it a painterly quality, without being heavy handed with it. Good suggestions, and repost works great!

Hi John.....Nice painterly look to this image ......I think i might mask the trees so they are sharper...but that's just me

I really like your filter effects and it's a lovely scene to begin with! I'm impressed with what you are doing with DAP.
