My turn with the owl

I had posted it earlier but that was just before the outage so many could not have seen. Hence, posting again.

This burrowing owl( very uncommon here) was seen first in SE Dallas county during christmas bird count. Cooperative individual that has been attracting a lot of birders. For the most part, it stands in the grass. For a brief moment, it flew on to the road. Fortunately I was already in a good position.

40D. 400 f/5.6L. iso 320. f/6.3. 1/2000s.

Love the low angle which in tern created this nice background and I like the pose.

Very nice Burrowing Owl. You managed to take it so that the road is not a problem - the background and foreground are blurred well and color complements the owl. Do you know if it is a Florida owl or one of the western owls that migrates in the winter?

I dont think the florida subspecies is seen here. but I am not an expert. Will have to wait and see if this bird breeds here or if it is here only for the winter.

Fantastic image Kaustubh. Perfect shooting angle - low enough to blur out the bg and just high enough to show those nice feet.
Perfect comp and wonderful multi-toned bg. Incidentally I saw my first Williamson County Borrowing Owl today - too skittish for photos. But got to add to the list at least ;)
