    Default Leopard cub looking!!

    Attached Images Attached Images

I found this leopard cub of about 12 months at Dikbaardskolk waterhole in the KTP. He approached me and stood in front of my Landcruiser for 10 minutes, before moving away into the thornveld. It appears as thought the mother and other cub have been killed and so this cub is trying hard to survive on it's own.
    Camera details:
    Nikon D3s
    Nikon 600mm f4 VR
    Manual mode
    Aperture f8
    S/S 1/1250
    ISO 1000
    Auto ISO
Processed in ACR and CS5 on a MBP 15"
    Any comments and critiques, wecome.

Very nice image. I like the pose and the IQ of the image. I am not sure about the crop. I think (if this was mine) I would crop to below the last whisker and lose some of the blurry foot. Nice light as well,
    Gail

IQ is excellent, and I agree with Gail in cropping out below the whisker as the leg is not complete and doesn't really add to the photo.

    What big eyes you have

Great image, again not to certain on the crop (if any) was this taken as portrait?

If you have any more on RHS then I would consider a wider landscape

    Hi Ken, Fred and Gail,
This is full frame, so have not cropped at all. My concern with cropping just short of the whiskers is that one will end up with a square image and I am not sure how acceptable a square image will be. Thank you for your comments, they are truly appreciated.
    Best wishes, Mark.

Mark - great head on pose. I prefer the crop on your repost but might go even a little tighter. Can you tell us what WB setting you shoot on? This again looks a little too yellow to me. Also, a couple of the patches on the side of the face appear to be blown, not sure if you tried any recovery on them. Sounds like an incredible sighting and I would love to see more shots from it.

    TFS,
    Rachel

    Hi Rachel,
My D3s is set to auto white balance. There is very little change to the colour during processing and agree I need to recover the high lets when reprocessing. Thanks for the help,
    Mark.

The repost works nicely for me too. I like the intent gaze. Lucky you!
