They are quite shy and skittish and do not come into close proximity or the open very often
One evening I was watching from the house platform and plonk, right into full view, 2 secs, one burst and gone

Excellent shot. Love how the head is cocked a bit. Really nice complimentary BG to go with the red. If I had one wish I would wish the OOF branch wasn't there. I like the vertical comp. I can't decide if the eye needs a bit of sharpening or if it is the reflection. Will wait for others to chime in,

nice colors and sharp details with good processing. The issues that I see are HA and it seems like the critical focus was on the back but overall a nice shot, it will be a winner when you nail the focus and HA :)

Nice back detail and great color! If you want them to come closer just get a copy of IBird on your smart phone or IPod and play the male's typical song. I used that with Western Tanagers last summer and they were practically bouncing off of the camera.
