Excellent, what a great capture! I love the colors and the two-tone background.

Nice job, Joel! Good job with HA and not cutting the bird's head in half with the shoreline. Wing position and placement in frame are excellent. That place is wonderful. I was there in November for the first time (at the same time as Kerry) and already have plans to go back this coming November (I even have the week off reserved at work). Is it really cold there now?

Nice catch Joel. I'm glad you got a chance to go to Bosque, it really is a special place. The crane feels a little cramped in the frame to my eye and the bg is a little busy, but you have excellent exposure, color, detail, and wing position. Nice sharp eye and placement in the frame. I hope to meet up with you some day, either at Bosque or elsewhere. I will be there in November, the week before Thanksgiving.

Thanks to all for the comments.
Ian, it was cold before dawn (10-20 F) and warmed during the day up to 40-50 F.
Kerry, I agree that it's a little tight but this one flew so close he filled the frame and I thought that was cool. I also like the fact that you can see some of the other birds roosting so you get a sense of the environment.
P.S. I too would enjoy getting together with you guys sometime.

Joel,
I want to go to Bosque and looking at your images make me want to go even more. Good comments above you controlled the frame well. Wish the shadow and background were softer but we take what we get sometime and the subject is beautiful. Detail is good especially HHing the big glass - can you tell any improvement with the back button.
