Hi Brendon, you might like to also float this in OOTB too?

Personally, as present it doesn't really grab me as a stand alone image. If it was used in connection with a bill board, or some signage with text perhaps, but as it is, the composition, cropping and choice of medium hasn't hooking me, sorry. I don't even think posting in colour would help, but perhaps a punt?

Maybe it's a visual thing, but to me the outstretch front leg looks sharper, more in focus than the head?

Steve you are quite right, there is very little that is sharp on this image, i just liked the movement of the image so i guess decided to try make something out of nothing really. Thanks very much for your input.

Hey Brendon, no worries, sorry it was rather negative, but then that is just one persons thoughts.

Occasionally you need to get things out of the system & post, irrespective of feedback. I think it is good and healthy, providing it is constructive, with qualifying comments, rather than 'it does not work for me.' Obviously with issues re the server today, the Forum may not be running at a 100%, so lets see what happens with future replies.

    All the best.

I kind of like it but it's missing pop. I like the sense of motion and the long narrow presentation enhances that feel.
I would try more contrast or reducing the exposure, I want to see the Lechwe pop against the background.

I might even try turning the background dark to get the pop

    Beautiful country down-over there.

Thanks very much guys. Steve, no worries at all i really appreciate your comments, and i completely agree we all try different things and sometimes are not sure about the results so shareing on communities such as this gives great and valuable feed back as to weather you are heading in the right direction or weather one should come back down from the clouds. I posted this with doubt in my own mind as to weather it works or not and to see if it even has potential, i understand there are some problems with the site, so i will see if others have anything to say Thanks again.

    Hi Brendon,
I admire and love it when people step out of their comfort zone and try new stuff. I must be frank and say that this image is not to my taste. I wish that it was the eye/head that was more in focus and not the leg. There is too much empty space in front of the lechwe for me.
I hate being negative because I don't want you to stop thinking "OOB"!

I can see why the image caught your eye, it is different and is OOB but it appeals to me. The softness and all the grays work for me, although I could see it needing a little more contrast.

Brendon - I too like the color and tone but unfortunately it doesn't work for me either due to the lack of sharp head. Nice to see you experimenting.

It's one of those - if you nail the sharpness on the head it's an explosive, "Wow" image in almost anyone's book...and if you don't, most won't find it appealing.
I do quite like it despite that nit which has now been thoroughly mentioned in this critique thread.
