    Default Sunbittern Displaying

This shot was taken near Rancho Naturalista in Costa Rica on the Rio Tuis. While shooting a video of this Sunbittern hunting for large centipedes, etc., my son walked up the river a ways, spooked a hawk, which then flew into a tree near the Sunbittern, provoking this display. I got a couple shots before the bird relaxed and withdrew the wingspread. One of my favorite captures on the trip. And a lucky one with an assist for my son. Loved everything about this shot but the slight "trimming" on the tail feathers! Darn!!

What a beautiful bird and you managed to capture nice pose. head angle is not ideal but I liked it.

This is a beautiful photo. Would love to see this bird and never would have guessed that it had so much color hiding in those wings. So glad you were fast enough to capture it.

What a great capture. Your POV was perfect to show the beautiful colors so I am not too worried about the HA. I might suggest a bit of sharpening on the head,

The bird was looking up at a Hawk and when it decided the Hawk was not a threat it retracted its wings and lowered its head. In other words I did not have much of a choice in terms of the head angle.
    Thanks for looking

I am glad that you appreciate the difficulty and luck involved in getting this shot. Thanks for the kind words Richard!

Thanks for pointing that out. Was so enamored by the wing patterns, did not really look carefully at the head area of the image. And what does "POV" mean??
