This is the second frame after he/she left the perch and was aiming towards the grassy field.
Thanks for looking.

no crits or nits for this image. i've never done any owl but seems like compare to india you people are having huge owls.
excellent flight shot this is. wish such a beautiful reddish bg.
Karl, this must be one of the best if not the best shot that I have seen of these owls. This is truly an over the top shot. Carmelo
Karl:
Face and head are great, lovely BG, nice sense of diving action. I would prefer a bit more room on the left if you have it.
What a wonderful opportunity.
Cheers
Randy
Karl,
This is the most amazing shot you have posted. I can feel the air blowing past my face as this guy swoops down. I love the "in your face" close-up feel of this shot. The BG compliments the owl. The IQ is excellent. I love his little rounded feet. What a keeper and one to hang on the wall! Do you have 5% more canvas on the right to give him a bit more room in front. Well done
Gail
A powerful image, Karl! Love the sharpness, that beautiful background, everything. Great work.
Hi Karl, you have absolutely nailed this to perfection. Superb detail on the face, and the eye stands out so well. Overall nice and sharp, and I do like that killer BG. Agree with Randy, a little more room on the left wont harm the image. Very well captured.
So cool Karl. Great that you can really see the eye too.
I agree with all. I really like this "different" flight view. Very effective, congrats on getting a BIF of this species.

A verry good well detailed image I love the wing blur and the colours in the BG .
I prefer the original to the one with the canvas.
Wow this really is one of the best images I have seen of this species...The re post is excellent.

excellent details and a nice BG, good vire of the eye. I do like the hovering pose but I think a better wing position would add more drama to an image like this.
looks like he was really close (300mm naked) Did you gyus bait the owl?

Great capture! I really like the non-typical wing position! Really makes for a unique image!
Thanks Arash.
Actually it wasn't howering, it was flying.
I'll post a downwing shot next time. I was very close, too close for a 300.
Personally I never feed raptors or owls. At that location nobody fed this owl, it was naturally hunting.
Some local people would have called the authorities, as the issued an order as well as the OPP.
No feeding at that location. (it's in the minddle of a small town)

What a masterful capture, Karl. Love your OP the best, and love everything about it, colors, wing positions, detail, IQ. Excellent job!
Excellent flight shot Karl. The detail is just amazing, wonderful background, love the feet, and the repost feels much better.
Well done.
Excellent work Karl. I'm fine with the wing position too...in fact I like it. It is unique too. I wonder if the background colours could be a bit more muted to help the bird stand out a bit more?
Stick this on your wall and get it published!
